Since 2003, the Extreme Cellists have taken
musical performances to new heights, and depths, by giving performances in
many extreme locations.
In summer 2010 they will be undertaking their latest challenge: completing the English Coast-to-Coast walk (made famous by Alfred Wainwright), carrying and playing their cellos! Further news about this fortnight-long venture will appear on this web site in the spring.
In July 2008, the Extreme Cellists successfully
attempted the Four Peaks Challenge, which involved climbing the tallest mountains in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland
with cellos, and giving a performance at the top of each!

challenge, please click here.
The challenge has raised over £5,500 for Mountain Rescue and the spinal cord injury charity Aspire.
The Extreme Cellists' most recent challenge was to run
the Sheffield Half Marathon on April 26th 2009, carrying cellos and stopping to
play twice along the way! This was successfully achieved, and some pictures
from the run can be seen here.
Previous challenges include, in 2006, the Cathedral Roof Tour -
in which the cellists played on the roofs of all 42 Anglican
Cathedrals in England in the space of just 12 days, raising a total of £5,266
for Shelter and ASPIRE; the 2005
Extreme Cello Walk, involving a 45-mile trek in a
single day; and
in
July 2007 the Monopoly
Board Challenge, giving a short performance at each of the streets on the
London Monopoly board in just one day (in order, of course!).
